In animal studies, it increases lean body mass and bone mineral density while exhibiting tissue selectivity—stimulating muscle growth comparably to testosterone but with minimal effect on sex accessory glands like the prostate. This profile suggests potential use as a "prostate-sparing" androgen or male contraceptive.
