Bonasol

Bonasol is an oral solution formulation of alendronic acid (alendronate), a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate used for the treatment of osteoporosis. Marketed by Viet Phap International in Vietnam, it is provided as a 70mg/10ml solution for once-weekly administration. The drug works by binding to bone hydroxyapatite and specifically inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. At the molecular level, alendronic acid inhibits farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS), a key enzyme in the mevalonate pathway. This inhibition prevents the prenylation of small GTP-binding proteins (such as Rho, Rac, and Cdc42) that are essential for the cytoskeletal organization, function, and survival of osteoclasts. The oral solution formulation is designed to be patient-friendly and senior-friendly, potentially improving treatment compliance compared to traditional tablet forms.
