Overview

Bone marrow aspirate matrix (BMA Matrix) is a biological product derived from bone marrow aspirate that forms a natural clot containing cellular and molecular components retained in a fibrin matrix. It serves as a potent orthobiologic for enhancing tissue repair mechanisms by modulating inflammation and acting as a natural biological scaffold. The matrix functions as a reservoir of cytokines and growth factors that support cell activity, displaying regenerative mechanisms similar to fracture hematomas that promote bone remodeling and healing. BMA Matrix contains mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, and other progenitor cells, along with growth factors including bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interleukin-8 (IL-8), and IL-1 receptor antagonist.
