Bone marrow-derived allogeneic multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSCs) are an investigational cell therapy developed by the Burnasyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center. These cells are being evaluated for their ability to accelerate hematopoietic recovery and prevent neutropenic enterocolitis in patients with hematological malignancies, such as lymphoma, who are undergoing high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplantation. MMSCs are thought to exert their therapeutic effects through the secretion of various cytokines and growth factors that modulate the immune response and promote the repair of damaged tissues, including the bone marrow niche and the intestinal epithelium. By providing immunomodulatory support and promoting tissue regeneration, these cells aim to mitigate the severe side effects of cytotoxic chemotherapy and enhance the success of hematopoietic stem cell recovery.
