Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) are multipotent adult stem cells isolated from the stromal compartment of bone marrow. They have the capacity for self-renewal and can differentiate into various mesodermal lineages including osteoblasts (bone), chondrocytes (cartilage), myocytes (muscle), and adipocytes (fat)[1][3][4]. BM-MSCs exhibit immunomodulatory properties, secrete trophic factors that promote tissue repair, and modulate inflammatory responses. These features make them promising candidates for regenerative medicine and cellular therapies in a range of degenerative, inflammatory, autoimmune diseases as well as tissue engineering[2][4]. Clinical trials have explored their use in conditions such as graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, COVID-19 ARDS, Crohn’s disease, pulmonary fibrosis and more[6][8][9].
