Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bone morphogenetic protein 10 (BMP10) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily, primarily synthesized in the right atrium and secreted into the systemic circulation. It plays a critical role in cardiac development and the maintenance of postnatal cardiac function. Recent research, such as that presented at ATS 2026, suggests that recombinant BMP10 may have therapeutic potential in treating pulmonary fibrosis. It appears to mitigate fibrotic progression by suppressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT), and fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation (FMD), likely through the inhibition of the TGF-β/Smad2 signaling pathway.
