Bone regeneration-São Paulo State University refers to a specific regenerative intervention used in dental surgery, particularly for immediate implant placement in compromised extraction sockets. The intervention consists of a combination of a non-cross-linked collagen membrane and deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) containing 10% porcine collagen. This combination functions as an osteoconductive scaffold and a physical barrier, a technique known as guided bone regeneration (GBR). The DBBM provides a mineral matrix that supports the migration and attachment of osteogenic cells, while the added porcine collagen improves the handling properties of the graft. The collagen membrane prevents the rapid ingrowth of epithelial and connective tissue into the defect, allowing slower-growing bone cells to populate the area. This protocol was evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial by São Paulo State University to maintain soft and hard tissue stability following tooth extraction. The materials used in this intervention are characteristic of commercial products such as Bio-Oss Collagen and Bio-Gide.
