Overview

BoneGen-TR is a medical-grade, resorbable calcium sulfate-based bone graft substitute primarily utilized in periodontal and oral surgery for the treatment of infrabony defects and ridge augmentation. It functions as an osteoconductive scaffold, providing a temporary physical matrix that facilitates the migration and attachment of osteogenic cells. A key feature of BoneGen-TR is its ability to act as a barrier in guided tissue regeneration (GTR) procedures; when applied over a defect, it prevents the rapid downgrowth of epithelial and connective tissues, thereby allowing slower-growing bone cells to populate the area. The material is typically supplied as a powder that, when mixed with a sterile aqueous solution, forms a moldable paste that hardens in situ. As the calcium sulfate resorbs over several weeks, it releases calcium ions into the local environment, supporting the mineralization of new bone tissue.
