Boostrix

Boostrix is a Tdap (tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis) vaccine developed and manufactured by GSK. It is indicated for active booster immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis in individuals aged 10 years and older. The vaccine is a non-infectious, sterile suspension containing tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, along with three purified pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin), all adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide. It works by stimulating the immune system to produce protective antibodies against the toxins of *Clostridium tetani* and *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, and the surface components of *Bordetella pertussis*. Although the input name associates the drug with Sanofi Pasteur, Sanofi Pasteur actually manufactures a competing Tdap vaccine, Adacel, and was the sponsor of clinical trials comparing the two products.
