Overview

Boostrix Polio is a combined diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, and inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine (dTpa-IPV) developed by GSK. It is designed as a booster dose for individuals aged 3 years and older to maintain immunity against these four infectious diseases. The vaccine contains reduced amounts of diphtheria toxoid and pertussis antigens compared to the primary childhood DTPa series, which minimizes local reactions in older children and adults while still providing an effective immune response. It includes inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, along with purified Bordetella pertussis components (pertussis toxoid, filamentous haemagglutinin, and pertactin). The vaccine is adsorbed onto aluminum salts to enhance the immune response and is administered via deep intramuscular injection.
