Overview

Booyuujing (BA6101) is a biosimilar recombinant fusion protein developed by Shandong Boan Biotechnology Co., Ltd. It is a biosimilar to aflibercept (Eylea), acting as a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) trap. The molecule consists of the extracellular domains of human VEGF receptors 1 and 2 fused to the Fc portion of human IgG1. By binding to VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF), Booyuujing inhibits the activation of VEGF receptors, thereby suppressing pathological angiogenesis and vascular permeability in the retina. It is approved in China for the treatment of various retinal vascular diseases, including wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), retinal vein occlusion (RVO), diabetic retinopathy (DR), myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV), and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
