Bopindolol

Bopindolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist (beta-blocker) used primarily for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. It acts as a prodrug that is rapidly metabolized to its active form, pindolol. Pindolol blocks both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the heart and other tissues, leading to decreased heart rate and blood pressure by inhibiting the effects of epinephrine and norepinephrine. Additionally, it inhibits renin secretion by blocking beta-2 receptors in the juxtaglomerular apparatus of the kidney, reducing angiotensin II and aldosterone production. Bopindolol possesses intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ISA) but lacks significant membrane-stabilizing or direct myocardial depressant effects[1][2][5][6]. It has been shown effective in treating mild to moderate hypertension as well as angina pectoris[5].
