Overview

Bordetella pertussis toxoid antigen (glutaraldehyde inactivated) is a vaccine component used in the prophylaxis of pertussis (whooping cough). It consists of the pertussis toxin from Bordetella pertussis that has been inactivated with glutaraldehyde to eliminate its toxicity while maintaining its immunogenicity. This antigen is a key component in acellular pertussis vaccines, which are designed to induce protective antibody responses against pertussis toxin. When administered as part of combination vaccines (DTaP, Tdap), it helps prevent the respiratory tract infectious disease caused by Bordetella pertussis that primarily affects infants and young children.
