Overview
A combination therapy consisting of bortezomib (a proteasome inhibitor) and thalidomide (an immunomodulatory agent) used primarily for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Bortezomib works by blocking proteasomes in cells, preventing protein breakdown and leading to cell death. Thalidomide inhibits cancer cell development, prevents angiogenesis, and stimulates immune cells to attack myeloma cells. This combination is often administered with dexamethasone, forming the VTD regimen.
