Boryung Inactivated Hepatitis A Vaccine

Boryung Inactivated Hepatitis A Vaccine is an inactivated whole-virus vaccine developed by Boryung Pharmaceutical for the prevention of hepatitis A infection. It utilizes the TZ84 strain of the hepatitis A virus, which is cultivated in human diploid cells, inactivated using formaldehyde, and adsorbed onto an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine works by inducing the production of specific neutralizing antibodies against the hepatitis A virus, thereby providing active immunity. Clinical studies, including Phase 3 trials in South Korea, have demonstrated that the vaccine is non-inferior in terms of seroconversion rates and safety when compared to established vaccines like Havrix. It was the first domestically produced hepatitis A vaccine to receive regulatory approval in South Korea.
