Boswellia sacra oleoresin extract, commonly known as frankincense extract, is a natural product derived from the oleoresin of *Boswellia sacra* trees. Researchers at Tanta University investigated this extract, prepared via cold maceration with ethanol, for its potential therapeutic application in periodontitis. The extract contains a complex mixture of volatile compounds, including trans-nerolidyl formate, cycloartenol acetate, and ursenoic acid 3-oxomethyl ester. It demonstrates significant antibacterial and antibiofilm activity against *Porphyromonas gingivalis*, a primary pathogen in chronic periodontitis. Its mechanism of action involves disrupting bacterial membrane integrity and downregulating the expression of key virulence genes, specifically *fimA* (fimbriae protein A), *hagA* (hemagglutinin A), and *hagB* (hemagglutinin B).
