Botaluma

Botaluma is a branded botulinum toxin type A injectable neurotoxin product used for aesthetic and/or therapeutic indications, analogous to other botulinum toxin type A formulations such as Botox, although detailed public information specific to this brand is limited. Like other botulinum toxin type A preparations, it is expected to act by cleaving the synaptic protein SNAP-25 in cholinergic nerve terminals, thereby blocking acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction and autonomic synapses, producing a temporary chemodenervation of targeted muscles or glands and resulting in reduced muscle contraction or secretory activity. The product is formulated as a biologic protein toxin derived from Clostridium botulinum and administered in very low doses by local injection to achieve focal effects with minimal systemic exposure.
