Overview

Botensilimab is an investigational Fc-engineered IgG1 anti-CTLA-4 human monoclonal antibody developed by Agenus for the treatment of various advanced cancers. It is designed to enhance the body’s immune response against cancer cells by targeting and blocking CTLA-4 (cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4), a protein that acts as a "brake" on the immune system. By inhibiting CTLA-4, botensilimab helps to "release the brakes," allowing T cells to more effectively recognize and attack cancer cells. The Fc engineering is intended to improve efficacy and potentially reduce toxicity compared to earlier-generation anti-CTLA-4 antibodies[3][5].
