Overview

Botulinum toxin + porcine collagen is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of skin aging and facial rejuvenation. Developed and extensively studied by researchers at The Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University, this combination utilizes the synergistic effects of a neuromodulator and a biostimulatory dermal filler. Botulinum toxin type A acts by cleaving the SNAP-25 protein, which inhibits the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, thereby relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Porcine collagen, often derived from porcine skin, serves as a structural scaffold that provides immediate volume to the dermal extracellular matrix and stimulates fibroblasts to produce endogenous collagen. This dual-action approach is designed to address both dynamic expression lines and static wrinkles while improving overall skin texture, elasticity, and hydration.
