Overview

This combination therapy is an aesthetic medical intervention that pairs the neuromuscular blocking effects of botulinum toxin type A with the structural and regenerative properties of recombinant human type III collagen. Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) is a neurotoxin that cleaves the SNAP-25 protein at the neuromuscular junction, thereby inhibiting the release of acetylcholine and inducing temporary muscle relaxation to smooth dynamic wrinkles. Recombinant human type III collagen is a bioengineered protein that replenishes the skin's extracellular matrix, providing structural support and promoting tissue repair to address static wrinkles and improve overall skin quality. This combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of periocular wrinkles (crow's feet), where it aims to provide a synergistic effect by addressing both the underlying muscular activity and the dermal structural deficiencies associated with aging.
