Overview

**Bovhyaluronidase azoximer** is a long-acting polymer-enzyme conjugate developed by Petrovax and marketed as Longidaza. It consists of bovine testicular hyaluronidase covalently conjugated to an azoximer carrier, specifically a copolymer of 1,4-ethylenepiperazine N-oxide and N-carboxymethyl-1,4-ethylenepiperazine bromide. The hyaluronidase component depolymerizes extracellular-matrix glycosaminoglycans, including hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfates, reducing matrix viscosity and water binding; this supports antifibrotic, anti-adhesion, and tissue-permeability effects. Conjugation improves resistance to endogenous inhibitors and prolongs enzymatic activity relative to native hyaluronidase. Longidaza is a Russian medicinal product supplied as a lyophilized injection formulation and vaginal or rectal suppositories for conditions involving connective-tissue hyperplasia, adhesions, scarring, and fibrosis; it has also been studied in post-COVID-19 pulmonary disease, lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, endometriosis, and bacterial vaginosis.
