Bovilis BTV8

Bovilis BTV8 is an inactivated veterinary vaccine developed by MSD Animal Health (formerly Intervet International) for the prevention of bluetongue disease caused by serotype 8 (BTV-8) in sheep and cattle. The vaccine contains killed BTV-8 virus and is administered via subcutaneous injection to induce active immunity, thereby preventing viraemia in sheep and reducing it in cattle. It received marketing authorization from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in 2010, initially under exceptional circumstances before being converted to a normal authorization status. The primary vaccination schedule involves a single dose for sheep and a two-dose series for cattle.
