It is utilized in a randomized, double-blind, half-face controlled trial (NCT06516939) sponsored by Shanghai Dermatology Hospital to treat sensitive skin with persistent erythema. As a vehicle control, it lacks the active bFGF protein, which is a mitogenic polypeptide that promotes skin repair by binding to fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs).
