Overview
The bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) vaccine is a preclinical-stage veterinary vaccine candidate developed by The Vaccine Group (TVG) in partnership with The Pirbright Institute and Innovate UK. The vaccine utilizes TVG's proprietary viral vector platform, which employs attenuated bovine herpesvirus-4 (BoHV-4) to deliver BRSV-specific antigens. This approach is designed to elicit robust humoral and cellular immune responses, including strong T-cell activation, to protect cattle against BRSV infection. BRSV is a highly contagious pathogen and a primary cause of bovine respiratory disease (BRD), leading to significant economic losses in the global cattle industry. The vaccine has demonstrated immunogenicity and efficacy in challenge trials conducted by the UK government's Animal and Plant Health Agency, including in calves with maternal antibodies.
