Overview

BP-1.4979 is a small molecule, investigational drug that acts as a selective partial agonist at the dopamine D3 receptor (DRD3), with much lower affinity and antagonist activity at the dopamine D2 receptor (DRD2). It was developed by Bioprojet Pharma as a first-in-class therapy for conditions involving dopaminergic dysfunction, including binge-eating disorder, bulimia, essential tremor, restless legs syndrome (RLS), and smoking cessation. In clinical studies, it demonstrated preferential occupancy of DRD3 over DRD2 in vivo and was generally well-tolerated in healthy volunteers[5][2][1]. The compound has been evaluated in phase II trials for several indications but some programs have been terminated or discontinued[7][4].
