BP-C1 is a novel platinum-containing anticancer agent developed for intramuscular administration. Its active substance is a cis-diammineplatinum(II) complexed with a polymer containing benzene polycarboxylic acids derived from lignin. This amphiphilic polymer confers improved pharmacological properties compared to traditional platinum analogues such as cisplatin and carboplatin, including reduced systemic toxicity and side effects while maintaining or improving antitumor efficacy. Mechanistically, BP-C1 acts as a DNA inhibitor by forming DNA adducts that disrupt cancer cell replication and survival. It has demonstrated broad-spectrum antitumor activity in preclinical models and is being developed primarily for the palliative treatment of metastatic breast cancer and metastatic pancreatic cancer[5][6][4].
