Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BP-C2 is a novel lignin-derived polyphenolic composition complexed with ammonium molybdate, currently under development by Meabco Inc. It is being investigated as a radioprotective and radiomitigative agent for the treatment and prevention of radiation-induced injuries, including gastrointestinal acute radiation syndrome (GI-ARS) and cutaneous radiation injury (CRI). The drug is intended for use both as a medical countermeasure for nuclear or radiological emergencies and as a supportive therapy for cancer patients receiving radiotherapy. BP-C2 is being advanced through IND-enabling studies under the FDA's Animal Rule pathway, with significant funding and support from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
