Overview

BP1002 is a neutral-charge, liposome-incorporated antisense oligonucleotide drug designed to inhibit the synthesis of Bcl-2 protein by targeting and hybridizing with Bcl-2 mRNA. By blocking the expression of this anti-apoptotic protein, which is overexpressed in many hematologic malignancies and solid tumors, BP1002 aims to induce tumor cell apoptosis and reduce tumor proliferation. The drug is administered intravenously and is being developed primarily for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML), non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and other lymphoid malignancies. Unlike small molecule inhibitors that target the Bcl-2 protein directly (such as venetoclax), BP1002 acts at the mRNA level and may overcome resistance mechanisms associated with current therapies[1][4][5][6][8].
