BP1003 is a neutral liposome-incorporated P-ethoxy antisense oligodeoxynucleotide designed to inhibit the expression of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3), a transcription factor implicated in tumorigenesis, drug resistance, and immune evasion in various cancers. Developed using Bio-Path Holdings' proprietary DNAbilize® liposomal delivery technology, BP1003 targets STAT3 mRNA to reduce its expression and downstream pro-tumorigenic functions. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that BP1003 enhances the efficacy of standard chemotherapies such as gemcitabine (in pancreatic cancer), paclitaxel (in breast/ovarian cancer), and 5-fluorouracil by sensitizing tumor cells to these agents. The drug is being developed for difficult-to-treat solid tumors including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), breast cancer (HER2+, triple negative), ovarian cancer (late stage/invasive), and other solid tumors[1][2][5][7].
