Overview

BP101 is a novel synthetic peptide drug candidate developed for the treatment of female sexual dysfunction, specifically targeting hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in women. It is administered intranasally and has demonstrated efficacy in increasing sexual desire and related functions in premenopausal women with HSDD during Phase II clinical studies[2][3]. Preclinical studies indicate that BP101 stimulates sexual motivation by acting within central brain pathways, particularly the medial preoptic area, which is associated with sexual behavior regulation[5][8]. The precise mechanism of action remains undefined but may involve modulation of neurotransmitter systems such as the GABA pathway[6]. The drug was originally developed by Ivix and further advanced by Ovoca Bio[2].
