BP102 is an anti-angiogenic small molecule that targets the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR). Developed by Fudan University, it is specifically being investigated for the treatment of the basal-like immune-suppressed (BLIS) subtype of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The BLIS subtype is characterized by high expression of angiogenesis-related genes, making it a prime target for antivascular strategies. BP102 is currently in Phase III clinical development (e.g., the BCTOP-T-A03 trial) as an adjuvant therapy in combination with dose-dense chemotherapy (ddEC-P) for patients with early-stage BLIS-subtype TNBC. It is also being explored in the metastatic setting in combination with nab-paclitaxel for first-line treatment of locally advanced or metastatic TNBC.
