Overview

BP1200 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by BrightPath Biotherapeutics that targets CD73 (5'-nucleotidase), an enzyme frequently overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment. CD73 plays a critical role in the purinergic signaling pathway by converting extracellular adenosine monophosphate (AMP) into adenosine. Adenosine is a potent immunosuppressive metabolite that binds to receptors on immune cells, such as T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, inhibiting their anti-tumor activity. By binding to and inhibiting CD73, BP1200 prevents the accumulation of adenosine, thereby reversing immune suppression and promoting a more robust anti-tumor immune response. The drug is currently in preclinical development for cancer immunotherapy, with potential applications as a monotherapy or in combination with other checkpoint inhibitors like PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies.
