Overview

BP1212 is a humanized bispecific antibody developed by BrightPath Biotherapeutics that simultaneously targets CD39 (Ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 1) and TIM-3 (Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2). These two proteins are frequently co-expressed on tumor-infiltrating immune cells, including T cells and dendritic cells, where they facilitate an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. By inhibiting CD39, BP1212 prevents the conversion of ATP into immunosuppressive adenosine, and by blocking TIM-3, it reverses immune cell dysfunction. Furthermore, BP1212 is designed to promote inflammasome activation in dendritic cells, a mechanism intended to enhance anti-tumor immunity and potentially improve the efficacy of other immune checkpoint inhibitors. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of cancer.
