BP2202 is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy based on induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA). Designed as an off-the-shelf immunotherapy for multiple myeloma, BP2202 aims to leverage the unique tumor-targeting and immunomodulatory properties of iNKT cells, with enhanced cytotoxicity against malignant plasma cells expressing BCMA. Developed by BrightPath Biotherapeutics, BP2202 received U.S. FDA Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of multiple myeloma in July 2025, with plans for initiation of clinical trials in the U.S.
