BPH-608 is a small molecule inhibitor of bacterial undecaprenyl diphosphate synthase (UPPS), an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of bacterial cell wall components. By inhibiting UPPS, BPH-608 disrupts the production of essential lipid carriers required for peptidoglycan synthesis, leading to antibacterial activity. The compound belongs to the class of organic compounds known as m-terphenyls and has demonstrated in vitro antibacterial effects with an IC50 value of 590 nM against UPPS[1][2]. There is no evidence that BPH-608 has been approved or advanced into late-stage clinical development for any indication.
