BPI-002

BPI-002 is a novel, orally administered small molecule developed by BeyondSpring Pharmaceuticals. It acts as a potent T-cell co-stimulator and functions primarily as a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA4) inhibitor. The drug is designed to activate the adaptive immune system, specifically enhancing the activity of CD4+ helper T cells and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells, enabling them to directly attack and kill virally infected cells—including those infected by RNA viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Additionally, when used in combination with vaccines (including COVID-19 vaccines), BPI-002 may serve as an adjuvant to improve long-term humoral (B-cell dependent) protection against future viral infections. Its primary indications under investigation have included viral infections like COVID-19 and neoplastic diseases such as colorectal cancer; however, no recent clinical development has been reported for these indications[1][2][3][4][5][7].
