Overview

BPI-2021 is a highly effective and selective small molecule inhibitor of the proto-oncogene protein c-MET (also known as hepatocyte growth factor receptor), developed by Beta Pharma. Abnormal expression of MET has been observed in various cancers, including gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The MET signaling pathway plays a significant role in the development and progression of NSCLC and is implicated in resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs). As such, c-MET has become an important molecular therapeutic target for NSCLC after EGFR and ALK. Preclinical studies have demonstrated promising anti-cancer activity for BPI-2021. Combination studies with EGFR-TKI agents are ongoing to address resistance mechanisms in NSCLC[1][2][3][4][7].
