BPI-9207 is a bispecific monoclonal antibody developed by Beta Pharma that simultaneously targets CD47 and Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1). CD47 is a cell surface protein that acts as a "don't eat me" signal, allowing cancer cells to evade phagocytosis by macrophages; BPI-9207 blocks this signal to promote innate immune clearance of tumor cells. Simultaneously, the antibody targets PD-L1, a well-characterized immune checkpoint that suppresses T-cell activity. By dual-targeting these pathways, BPI-9207 is designed to bridge innate and adaptive immunity to enhance anti-tumor responses. This bispecific approach may also improve safety by preferentially binding to tumor cells expressing both targets, potentially reducing the off-target hemotoxicity (such as anemia) often associated with systemic CD47 inhibition.
