Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BPOllen Duo is a topical gel formulation developed and marketed by Farmapiel for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris, particularly inflammatory lesions, in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older. The product contains a combination of clindamycin (1%), a lincosamide antibiotic, and benzoyl peroxide (5%), an oxidizing agent. Clindamycin exerts its therapeutic effect by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, such as *Cutibacterium acnes*, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Benzoyl peroxide provides a non-specific bactericidal effect through the release of reactive oxygen species and also possesses keratolytic properties. This dual-action approach helps reduce inflammation, control sebum production, and mitigate the development of antibiotic-resistant organisms.
