Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BPR-101 is an investigational live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by Chengdu Syncor Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment and prevention of recurrence of bacterial vaginosis (BV). It consists of specific strains of *Lactobacillus* (notably *Lactobacillus crispatus*) intended to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome. In clinical trials, BPR-101 is evaluated as an adjunct to standard antibiotic therapy, such as metronidazole. The product is unique in its administration protocol, which involves both oral and vaginal routes to ensure effective colonization and restoration of the protective lactic-acid-producing flora that inhibits the overgrowth of anaerobic pathogens associated with BV.
