BPR003

BPR003 is an early-stage drug candidate being developed by BiPER Therapeutics as a modulator of Binding Immunoglobulin Protein (BiP), also known as 78 kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP78). BiP is a master chaperone protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) that plays a critical role in protein folding and the unfolded protein response (UPR). While BiPER's lead programs (BPR001 and BPR002) focus on oncology by targeting GRP78 overexpression in cancer cells, BPR003 is specifically designed for non-oncology indications where endogenous protection mechanisms are dysregulated. The program aims to restore or modify these protective pathways to address diseases characterized by ER stress and protein misfolding. As of early 2024, BPR003 is in the identification and early discovery phase.
