BPX-04

BPX-04 is a novel, topical gel formulation of fully solubilized minocycline developed for the treatment of moderate-to-severe papulopustular rosacea. It utilizes BioPharmX's proprietary HyantX™ delivery system, an anhydrous hydrophilic gel designed to stabilize minocycline and facilitate its rapid penetration into the skin, specifically targeting the pilosebaceous units. Unlike traditional oral minocycline, BPX-04 aims to deliver high local concentrations of the drug while minimizing systemic absorption and associated side effects. Although minocycline is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, its efficacy in rosacea is believed to be primarily mediated through anti-inflammatory effects, such as the inhibition of matrix metalloproteinases and the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
