Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BR1018** is Boryung's investigational oral four-drug fixed-dose combination for patients with essential hypertension and primary hypercholesterolemia. It combines fimasartan, an angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker; amlodipine, an L-type calcium-channel blocker; atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor; and ezetimibe, an inhibitor of intestinal cholesterol absorption through Niemann-Pick C1-like protein 1. The regimen is intended to provide concurrent blood-pressure reduction and intensive low-density lipoprotein cholesterol lowering. Boryung has completed a Phase 3 study evaluating the fimasartan/amlodipine and ezetimibe/atorvastatin combination strategy and has reported plans to pursue marketing authorization.
