Overview

Brachyury vaccine is a **non-specific umbrella term** for investigational therapeutic cancer vaccines designed to induce antitumor immunity against **brachyury**, a transcription factor implicated in epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, metastasis, and treatment resistance and highly expressed in chordoma and several epithelial cancers. The term most commonly refers to at least two distinct products: **MVA-BN-brachyury-TRICOM**, a recombinant poxviral prime-boost vaccine developed by Bavarian Nordic with the National Cancer Institute, and **GI-6301**, a heat-killed recombinant *Saccharomyces cerevisiae* yeast-based vaccine developed by GlobeImmune. These agents are cancer immunotherapies rather than a single defined drug product, have mainly been studied in chordoma and other solid tumors, and have shown immunogenicity and acceptable safety but limited clinical efficacy to date.
