Overview

Brain Shuttle-NDC-0524 is a monoclonal antibody therapeutic candidate being developed by Nitrase Therapeutics (formerly Nitrome Biosciences) for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The antibody is engineered with a 'brain shuttle' technology designed to facilitate its transport across the blood-brain barrier, allowing for higher therapeutic concentrations in the central nervous system. It specifically targets nitrated alpha-synuclein, a pathological post-translational modification of the alpha-synuclein protein that is strongly linked to the formation of toxic aggregates and neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. By selectively targeting the nitrated form, the drug aims to clear pathogenic aggregates while minimizing interference with the physiological functions of normal alpha-synuclein. The program is currently in the discovery stage.
