BRCA1P1-specific antisense oligonucleotide is a research-grade molecular tool designed to target and knock down the expression of BRCA1P1, a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) pseudogene of the BRCA1 tumor suppressor gene. Developed by researchers at the University of Chicago, this custom-designed locked nucleic acid (LNA) GapmeR targets exon 1a of BRCA1P1. In preclinical models of breast cancer and other solid tumors, knockdown of BRCA1P1 using this antisense oligonucleotide induces an antiviral defense-like program, upregulates antiviral genes, stimulates cytokine production, promotes cancer cell apoptosis, and enhances macrophage-mediated phagocytosis. It is primarily used as a laboratory research reagent to study the role of the BRCA1P1 pseudogene in regulating innate immune defense mechanisms and antitumor responses.
