bremelanotide + ondansetron

Bremelanotide + ondansetron is a combination therapeutic candidate developed by Palatin Technologies for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. The combination pairs bremelanotide, a synthetic peptide and non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist (primarily targeting the MC4 receptor), with ondansetron, a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. While bremelanotide is effective in increasing sexual desire and reducing distress, its clinical utility is often hampered by a high incidence of nausea (approximately 40% in clinical trials). The addition of ondansetron in a fixed-dose co-formulation is designed to prophylactically reduce or eliminate treatment-induced nausea, thereby improving the tolerability and patient experience of the therapy. The co-formulation is intended for subcutaneous administration.
