Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BREMEN is an investigational fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution developed by the Brazilian pharmaceutical company EMS for the management of primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It contains brimonidine tartrate, an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, and timolol maleate, a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist. The combination works synergistically to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) by decreasing the production of aqueous humor and increasing uveoscleral outflow. In clinical development, BREMEN was evaluated in a Phase 3 randomized, investigator-masked trial (NCT03235232) to demonstrate therapeutic equivalence in efficacy and safety to the reference product Combigan.
