Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BRI-101 is a small molecule inhibitor of fatty acid-binding protein 3 (FABP3) being developed by BRI Pharma for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). FABP3 is involved in the uptake and pathological aggregation of α-synuclein in dopaminergic neurons, which is a key hallmark of synucleinopathies. By inhibiting FABP3, BRI-101 aims to prevent the accumulation of α-synuclein and slow disease progression. The compound has demonstrated good brain penetration and a wide safety margin in preclinical studies.
