Overview

BRI-601 is a small-molecule inhibitor of Fatty Acid Binding Protein 7 (FABP7) being developed by BRI Pharma for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, including Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). The drug works by inhibiting the aggregation of alpha-synuclein in oligodendroglial cells, which is a key pathological feature of these conditions. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that BRI-601 has a wide safety margin and effective brain penetration, supporting its potential as a therapeutic agent for brain inflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders.
